Week 13

Well this week must have been either very, very busy or very, uneventful because I had nothing listed in my little notepad to blog about. I think I have proven that I can not keep up with once a week updates so my next entry will be the entire month 3. It was a very exciting month so there is lots to tell. I will probably have to stick to once a month blogs for a while or at least until things slow down at work. It looks like I did still manage to take a few pics this week.
Jay took a few of these with his phone. He is really good at getting great pics with the phone. As soon as I get out the big camera Maddox starts focusing on it and it is hard to catch the cute little smiles. Probably cause my camera is big and it has the bright flash.

Week 12

We are officially slammed at work, the days are just crazy. Good part is the day goes really quick, bad part is I have to stay a little later than I like. Most everyone is staying until 7:00 but I am really trying to leave no later than 5:30. I just go in early and work straight through lunch. Everyone else is working weekends too, but Maddox will only be a baby for little while and I refuse to miss it just for work and a little extra money. I just hope the bosses realize this and don't start pressuring me about it. It is really tough though....I feel guilty when I am leaving work while everyone else is working but I also feel guilty when it is 5:30 and I am still at work and I could be at home with my baby. I just hope this passes soon. The stress is really getting to me. I try to relax when I get home but its not easy. I even dream about work. It does help that Maddox is starting to sleep until 6:00 am every morning so we are getting a little more sleep.

Jason's first Father's Day was a great day. We met my parents and Lucas for brunch at Golden Corral and hung out there just catching up and visiting for a couple hours. I made Jason a really neat book that included all the pictures of him and Maddox together. He also got a Reds shirt that says world's greatest dad. Those kind of shirts are not usually Jay's style but I guess this one is ok because it is sports related. After brunch we spent the rest of the day at home. It was so nice to spend time together just enjoying our time as a family. Plus Jay got to take a Father's Day nap. I know he really enjoyed that.

Maddox officially has a favorite toy. He just loves his caterpillar!! He has been playing with it for the last couple weeks. Its just like the one in the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar. His face lights up when we give it to him. I think it is a lot easier to hold than most of his other toys right now. He just wraps his arms around it. He loves to suck on the little feet. They are so wet when he is done with it, it is sooo cute.

Week 11

Ok....so my little boy is not even 3 months old and the pic below is him in a 6 month sleeper. Thats right 6 months!!!! He is a very long boy and 3 month sleepers just don't allow him to stretch his cute little legs. I couldn't believe it when I saw how good it fit, but I have learned not to ever go by the size listed in months. He has some 3 month stuff that is too big and some 6 month stuff that fits him perfect...I think he even still fits in a few newborn onesies. Its so confusing. Nothing else too exciting happened this week. It seems like Maddox is starting to get a little more hair but that could just be my wishful thinking. Interest rates are droping and things are starting to get really busy at work. I think everyone will be working lots of overtime soon and I am going to have a battle to fight. I am just not willing to put in the hours I used to. The 9 to 10 hours a day I am gone now is already way too much.

Week 10

This week was pretty uneventful which is what I prefer. The less we have to do the more quality time I get to spend with Maddox just hanging around the house. Maddox is really starting to respond to people and toys. We have discovered he loves mirrors. He has one in his little lay down and play thing that he just stares and stares at while hitting all the little noise making toys that hang down. It is so cute...he cracks himself up playing with that thing. We have some great videos of it. I am told he also has a mirror at Grammy's that he loves. Maddox and I have our own little swing game that seems to entertain him for a long time as well. I sit in front of him while he is swinging and throw a blanket over him. He immediately starts to wiggle his way out of the blanket. He starts with pulling his hands out and then he kicks and kicks until the blanket falls off. I make sure to make a big happy sound and clap when the blanket falls to the floor an then I just pick it back up and throw it back on him again. He just loves it an it is actually some good exercise for him. He really has to work at it to get the blanket off completely.

Maddox is holding on to things very well now. He seems to get really excited when he realizes that he is holding things in both hands. We still have to put the items in his hands a lot but at least now he realizes that it is him making the noise by jingling the keys or shaking a rattle.
He is also starting to try to hold his bottle while he is eating. Sometimes he gets a good enough grip on it that I can let go and he can feed himself. He is growing up so quick.

We went to my parents house on Sunday. We just hung out outside all day and Maddox had his first ride on a 4-Wheeler. First ride of many I am sure. Daddy took him all around the pond and back. Maddox just looked around at all the different colors and stuff.

Week 9

I went back to work this week. I am so glad it is a short week. Memorial Day was Monday so I didn't have to go in until Tuesday and I was off on Friday. It was so hard to leave him on Tuesday morning. I cried the whole way to work. Its not that I am worried about him, he is in wonderful hands, he is with people that love him and that's what matters most. It is my own insecurities that I am dealing with. I know its crazy but I am so afraid that he is not going to know who his mom is. Truth is, we are very, very lucky, Maddox gets to go to work with Daddy everyday where his Grammy is waiting for him. Sometimes he spends the day there and sometimes he goes home with her. Grammy set up her whole office for him, even painting the walls and getting new carpet. The fact that he gets to be with family and not a nanny or day care is what is keeping me sane. It is the best situation possible next to me staying home with him. I cried every single day this week, but everyone keeps assuring me that it will get easier so that's what I am waiting for. Jay sends me a picture of him everyday around lunch. He always looks happy and it gives me something to look forward to. He even sends me little videos if Maddox is doing something really cute. I am not sure if Maddox sensed the change or not but he was nice enough to start sleeping until around 5am starting the first day I went back to work. Up till then he was waking up between 2 and 3am every night and then again around 6:30. He goes down around 10 pm so we are extremely happy with this new sleeping schedule. After he takes his bottle we usually let him lay in bed with us for about an hour before getting up for the day. Its nice to have a little bonding time before I have to leave him for so long.

Maddox had his 2 month doctor appointment this week. He weighed in at 12 pounds and 14 ounces!!! He is getting so big....it must be his thunder thighs. They measured him at 22.50 inches but we think that he is longer than that. We are doing delayed vaccines so he only had to get one shot this time and one oral vaccine. Most babies get 5 vaccines at their 2 month visit and 5 vaccines at their 4 month visit. Maddox got 2 vaccines at this visit and will get 3 vaccines at 3 months. This spreads them out a little more so he is not getting injected with so much at once. Of course this means a lot of extra visits to the doctor but after everything I have read this is much better for Maddox so we don't mind the trips one bit.

I realized I forgot to blog a couple weeks ago that we found Maddox's birth mark. I looked and looked when he was first born and never found one, I guess it took a little while to show up, anyway Jay was getting Maddox ready for his bath and his naked back was toward me and there it was, right in the middle of his back. It looks like a little finger smudge or something, it is so cute!

Week 8

This is my last week before going back to work and I am not happy about it. It just feels so wrong to leave my little man right now. He is really starting to interact with people and as you will see below he is starting to smile and giggle also. Just when he is starting to recognize me I will be leaving him. This has left me very sad and bitter but unfortunately we have no choice but to be a 2 income family. I truly do love to work and I enjoy my job most of the time, but I would love to be able to spend more time with Maddox throughout the week. My work will not allow me to work at home 1 day a week like I requested after the month of June. But again, because my income makes up for more than half and I carry the insurance on Maddox, making a change right now is not really feasible for our little family.

On a happier note, Jay and I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary this week. The Reds are doing so well we thought where better to celebrate than at a game. Plus, we had not been yet this year which is very different for us. It was also the first time we had both left Maddox for an extended period of time. He was in good hands of course, spending his time with Grammy and Aunt Tisha and Uncle Will. We had a great time and the game was great, 6 home runs equals lots of fireworks. Very funny thing happened...we got each other the exact same anniversary card. I bet that will never happen again. Its hard to believe that we have been married for 5 years and together for over 10! They have gone so fast but they have been wonderful. I am very lucky to have such a great husband.

Jay took a shower with Maddox this week. It was soooo cute. You could tell Maddox didn't know what to think about it at first, but he seemed to like it just fine. I took pictures of course but I know some day Maddox would hate that I posted him naked with all his glory all over the web so we will just keep those in the family album.

Maddox's 6 week pictures came in this week, I just love all the different faces he makes. It also amazes me how much he has changed in just 6 short weeks. It goes so fast.

So Maddox smiles all the time now. It is wonderful, he is such a flirt. Sometimes all you have to do is look at him and he starts cheese-n it up. Its really funny when he smiles while sticking his tongue out. Seeing him smile at me is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen and is by far the greatest feeling I have ever felt. I really didn't know it was possible to love this much. His smile and his happiness is my reason for living.
I have been trying to capture all his different smiles...he has so many.

A few more pics I liked from this week.
